Update

I've clearly fallen off the wagon with blogging. I've also fallen off the wagon with yoga (I only go once a week to the studio and do the easy classes at work), exercising in general (I probably do the elliptical once a week if I'm lucky), and pretty much anything else (cooking, cleaning, working on my side project).

So what have I been doing? Well, during the week, I still work my butt off during the day. At night, I'm pretty much brain dead so I just relax on the couch and read or watch tv after dinner. During the weekend, Badge and I do errands. On Sundays, we've fallen into a routine of going to the La Jolla farmer's market and then eating brunch at the Cottage. Very pleasant.

On the pregnancy front, I'm just now entering my 37th week. From here on out, I'm supposed to see the doctor once a week. Tomorrow is our hospital tour which will be good to get under our belt. We've already completed a childbirth class which was informative. Aside from that, we've just been working on decorating the baby room. Badge has been making a mobile which is coming along nicely, and I've been thinking of cute pictures to draw.

Here are some random pictures that I've been meaning to post.

Brunch at R Gang Eatery:

This weekend my mom and Uncle Jamie came to visit, bringing with them some El Pollo Inka deliciousness. Next weekend, Badge will be out of town on business so my mom will probably come back to visit. And then the following weekend, Monkey comes to visit yay!

Nursery Project #1

Tuesday, July 26, 2011

Two weeks ago, I stumbled across this cartoon while surfing the web and it was too cute to pass up. I recreated it using ink and red paint for the heart. Looks quite nice with the red frame.

Onto the next drawing!

Crib Time

Friday, July 15, 2011

Hooray, our crib is finally set up! Many thanks to Spike and Frog for getting this as our gift, and much props to Badge for finding this beautiful crib in the first place. It's made by a design studio in LA that specializes in modern sustainable furniture. The crib took a while to make (made here in the US of course), but it was well worth the wait. I am quite found of the elephant print on the sheets. Too cute.

This weekend I will work on drawing artwork for the walls. I'm thinking as a follow on project to the artwork, I will attempt to make my own mobile. Stay tuned!

Update

Today marks the end of my 32nd week. It's hard to imagine that in another 8 weeks or so, I will be squeezing another person out of my body. FREAKY!

I've had a pretty easy pregnancy so far. There are little things to complain about (if I must) but nothing major. However, this past week I've noticed my hands and feet swelling quite a lot. Sadly I didn't take my rings off sooner so now they're just stuck on my puffy fingers. I tried icing, raising my hands above my head, lubricating with soap and oil. No go. Hopefully they won't swell too much more and I won't need to have my rings cut off yikes! At this point I can't make a fist without discomfort and the bottom of my feet are pretty sore. This hot weather doesn't help of course. Bleh.

Otherwise, I've been getting a lot of Braxton-Hicks contractions which I guess is good practice for the ol' uterus. I've also had trouble sleeping due to all the bathroom breaks I need to take in the middle of the night but that's not anything new. I've got a doctor's appt on Wed so it'll be good to find out what position the baby is in, i.e. head down or head up. I really have no idea.

Lastly, our crib is scheduled for delivery in another week, yay! Maybe my nesting instinct will finally kick in.

That's all for now.

Badge's 30th Bday

As always, I'm quite behind on my blog posts. Let's start with the most important: Badge's 30th birthday!

Yup, on June 17th, Badge a.k.a Mr Bunny a.k.a best hubby ever entered a new decade in his life: the 30's. Unfortunately, we couldn't do anything TOO wild since I'm incubating our child but we still squeezed in many events during this weekend of celebration.

On Thursday, we met up with our friends Purvi and Vishal at Truluck's for a delicious dinner. I've actually never heard of Truluck's until recently when I was flipping through a San Diego magazine and noticed this restaurant won reader's choice for many categories including best seafood, most romantic, and best happy hour (and it's right near our house). So I quickly picked up the phone and made a reservation. As it turns out, the place did not disappoint. We started with raw oysters, crab chowder, and a wedge salad. For entree, Badge got Alaskan King crab while I got a small filet mignon (just following doctor's orders to get more iron hehe). Everything was cooked well and exactly what you would expect from a upscale seafood/steak restaurant.

For dessert, Badge got birthday cupcakes while the rest of us split the world's most decadent carrot cake. As you can see from the pic, this thing was massive and tasted like one big candy bar. Though I thoroughly enjoyed it, I'm not sure I could eat this more than once a year. As always, we had a blast hanging out with P & V. A great start to the weekend.

On Friday, we met up with the family at Anthology for a joint bday / father's day gathering. The Wailing Jenny's were singing and while they sang like angels, most of us thought it was a bit slow. Still, it was a nice evening relaxing with the family.

On Saturday, we drove up to South Coast Plaza to pick out a couch from Room & Board. Badge has been hankering for a new couch for quite some time now, and what the birthday boy wants, the birthday boy gets. I must admit this is a bit of a cheat gift since I get to benefit from the sofa too but let's not dwell on that. After much deliberation, we picked out the Orson couch with chaise (gotta have that chaise) which was amazingly comfortable with a nice durable fabric. With the delivery date set for the 30th, we merrily drove home. Note: we've since gotten the couch which can be seen below with Henry napping on it. It fits our spot perfectly. We even swapped the coffee table over so that Mobius (glass table) goes with the rest of the DWR furniture.

That night, Badge went out with Vishal and some other friends for boy's night out. They went to Pizzeria Bruno for dinner (very good pizza, have I blogged about it yet??) and then hit some bars. From what I hear, they had a ton of fun which was evidenced by Badge trying to sneak home at 4 in the morning. Where does he think we are, NYC or something?

On Sunday, Badge went to soccer, one of his favorite activities. That night, we went to El Take It Easy for an early dinner. We'd read a lot of hype about this place so figured it was time to check them out. We got pickled veggies, empanadas and shrimp & grit fritters. Badge also got fish tacos while I partook of pork belly tacos. The ambience was cool and the food was tasty though probably not something I'd crave all the time. Great end to a fun filled weekend.
